⚠️ Important Notice: Uni-Directional Signal, Thunderbolt Display Incompatibility & Cable Guide

1. Uni-Directional Only (USB-C Host to Mini DP Display): This adapter transmits video signals in ONE direction only: from a USB-C laptop/phone/tablet (Host) to a Mini DisplayPort display/projector (Sink). It is NOT bidirectional and CANNOT connect a Mini DP computer to a USB-C monitor.
2. Incompatible with Apple Thunderbolt 1/2 Displays: While Apple Thunderbolt Displays share the exact physical shape as Mini DisplayPort, they operate on a proprietary Thunderbolt bus. This adapter works ONLY with genuine Mini DisplayPort displays (such as Apple LED Cinema Displays or standard Mini DP monitors); it does NOT work with Thunderbolt displays.
3. 10Gbps USB-C Video Cable Required: To transmit video, you must connect your host device to the adapter's USB-C input using a full-featured USB-C to USB-C cable (supporting 10Gbps and DisplayPort Alt Mode). Standard USB 2.0 charging cables cannot carry video signals.
4. Side USB-C PD Power Port: The dedicated side USB-C port is for PD pass-through charging only (keeping your host device powered while projecting); it does not support data or video output.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

Q: Can I connect my USB-C laptop or iPad to a Mini DisplayPort monitor or projector?
A: Yes. It converts the video signal from your USB-C host device (supporting DP Alt Mode) into a Mini DisplayPort output, allowing you to connect directly to Mini DP screens.

Q: Does this adapter support 4K 60Hz ultra-HD video resolution and pass-through PD charging?
A: Yes. It supports video resolutions up to 4K@60Hz (3840x2160), 1440p@60Hz, and 1080p@60Hz, while the side USB-C PD port lets you fast-charge your host device simultaneously.

Q: Do I need a full-featured 10Gbps USB-C cable to connect to the adapter?
A: Yes. Video transmission requires a full-featured USB-C to USB-C cable supporting at least 10Gbps data speed and DisplayPort Alternate Mode (charging-only cords cannot carry video).

Q: Can I use this adapter in reverse to connect a computer with Mini DP output to a USB-C monitor?
A: No. This is a strictly uni-directional adapter (USB-C input to Mini DP output). Furthermore, it does not support Apple Thunderbolt 1/2 displays due to protocol differences.
